the general belief that the scope window is definite to close at some point in the future, a belief which comes to form the basis of the school of definitivism.

ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY
Astro-English: from Astronese, the word definite is used here to denote “that which is certain”; with the addition of the suffix -ism, the term is transformed into “a formalised belief” that, in the context of the Astroeschatology, relates to the more general belief than that which is espoused in definitivism, that “the scope window is definite to close at some point in the future.”
